ALL PROMOTION APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN DIGITAL FORMAT TO : promotions@nankajudo.com
Procedure for Submitting Promotion Applications:
- USJF Form 20 Digital must be completed and Digitally Signed. Scanned and signed documents are no longer accepted.
- ALL FEES must be paid to USJF and to NANKA prior to submission to USJF
- Previous promotion rank certificate must be attached to the application.
- All applicants 18 years and older must have a completed Background Screening by USJF, Heads-up concussion training, Safe-Sport training, First Aid & CPR certification. Proof of certification must be submitted with the application.
- Paid up USJF annual fees at time of application, current year plus three (3) previous years.
Note: If any of the above is missing or not completed, application will be rejected

USJF Promotion Requirements 2021
USJF has revised some promotion requirements since the Nanka Handbook was updated.
Specifically, required certifications and a narrative requirement for Rokudan and up
Rokudan Narrative:
Demonstrative moral characters and skills such as:
- Sharing of an historical and philosophic perspective of Judo
- Increased expertise in one or more areas
- Leadership in dojo
- Recognition by one’s peers
- Direct participation in on-the-mat activities in uniform
Shichidan Narrative:
Demonstrative moral characters and skills such as:
- Invoking purpose and meaning to what we do
- Providing higher and personalized motivation and inspiration
- Regional, National, and International contribution and experiences
- Developing all students to help achieve higher levels
- Direct participation in on-the-mat activities in uniform
Hatchidan Narrative:
Demonstrative moral characters and skills such as:
- Ability to inspire and organize
- Recognition for a lifetime of Judo
- Being a life coach Being an extraordinary individual
